A tribute flight dedicated to the legendary non-stop flight of the soviet pilot Valery Chkalov to Udd Island and back again has been completed. A Su-30 of the RF Air Force landed at the Zhulovsky Airfield on Friday. The aircraft was manned by: aircraft commander Anatoly Kvochur, Hero of Russia, Honorary Test Pilot of the USSR and second pilot Sergei Korostiev, a distinguished test pilot. The aircraft was in flight for around fifteen hours covering over twelve thousand and five hundred kilometres with four in-flight refuelings. The flight demonstrated the power of the modern Russian military aircraft and technology, i.e. satellite navigation and in-flight refueling. Seventy years ago, Chkalov set a long-distance flight world record.
